EPISODE 1 – FEDERAL ACT ON EPIMEDICS
Federal Act on Epidemics – What you need to know. In this first episode, we discuss the Swiss Federal Act on Epidemics. This law regulates, inter alia, competencies of the cantonal or federal authorities and the measures they may take depending on the emergency situation and seriousness Switzerland is facing due to a transmissible disease to human beings. You will better understand how Switzerland can use federalism impose local or global measures at the national level in the event of an extraordinary situation. We provide a summary to understand this law and its implications for the economy and companies.
EPISODE 2 – TELEMEDECINE & LAW
Telemedicine & Law – Recommendations and best practices. To avoid contacts between people, which might spread the virus further, the healthcare system and the population need remote solutions. Telemedicine is a remote technological solution, that can be very simple, using remote medical consultations to address health-related questions, emergency triage for hospitals and the shortage of doctors available to reassure the population. We provide answers to some of those questions and provide legal recommendations for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and hospitals that want to use telemedicine as a method to give medical advise to the population.

In our 3rd episode, we discuss criminal sanctions imposed to individuals and companies for violations of the measures imposed by the federal and cantonal authorities. The population currently faces major professional, personal and health challenges. It has to act with ethics, balancing between solidarity and self-protection. To ensure all individuals and companies respect their duties to protect the health of the population, the authorities are imposing new criminal liabilities.
